475 Hiking in Alaskan Cruise Ports

We’ve got a great bonus episode to round off our Alaska Week! We get many questions about hiking in Alaskan Cruise Ports so we are very excited to have had friends of the show Ken and Sarah on to discuss the various hikes and excursions they have done in Alaska. They have done a variety of hikes on their own and through booked excursions and discuss why they enjoy a mix of both methods. We also discuss the safety, equipment, and accessibility of these hikes.

Here is a list of the trails we discussed on these sailings, along with additional information and maps.

Vancouver: Grouse Grind & Big Chief

Skagway: Lower Dewey Lake & Laughton Glacier

If you are hiking, please consider your safety and take the necessary precautions! We recommend visiting the tourist center of any of these ports to inform them of where you are going, discuss the trails, and obtain safety equipment if available.
